LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu – GMR-Megawide Cebu Airport Corp. (GMCAC) kicks off its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity for the year by participating in the Red Cross Million Volunteer 3 Run last February 6 at the Gaisano Mactan Island Mall, located in this City.
Close to 60 runners from GMCAC and the Megawide- GISPL Construction Joint Venture joined the 21k, 16k, and 5k categories.
Juvee Lee Anor of GMCAC Airport Operations Control Center department and Roxanne Paguio of the Human Resource department bagged the second and third place, respectively, in the Women’s 21k category.
"I feel a sense of fulfillment having finished the 21k category. To be awarded as second place served as an icing on the cake,"says Anor.
GMCAC’s participation in the Red Cross Million Volunteer 3 Run is part of the CSR health portfolio to campaign for a healthier and more active lifestyle among its employees.
"This is our first engagement with Red Cross Philippines for the year and we hope to partner with them in more health-related CSR activities,"said GMCAC CSR Officer Avi Maningo.
The nationwide running event is organized by the Philippine Red Cross in coordination with the regional chapters to raise funds, which will be used to buy rescue equipment and establish a blood service facility.
The organization is targeting 3 million runners nationwide, and is aiming to set a world record as the Biggest Humanitarian Run through the Guinness Book of World Records.
GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC) is a Filipino company formed from the Consortium comprising of GMR group of India and Megawide Construction Corp. of the Philippines under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC).
